Covenant vs Convenience

Feb 15, 2026  •  Pastor Willie Peterson, Jr

In Week 3 of our relationship series, we shift from guarding our hearts in singleness and dating to honoring God in marriage.

In “Covenant Over Convenience,” we explore Ephesians 5 and discover that marriage was never meant to be sustained by feelings alone it is sustained by covenant. Culture teaches us to stay as long as it’s easy. Scripture calls us to love as Christ loves: sacrificially, intentionally, and faithfully.

Marriage is not a contract built on convenience. It is a covenant built on commitment.

This message unpacks:

• The difference between covenant and contract

• Why mutual submission protects unity

• How marriage reflects Christ and the Church

• Why love is a decision, not just a feeling

If you’re married, preparing for marriage, or healing from relationship wounds, this teaching will challenge and encourage you to choose commitment over comfort and to build a marriage that honors God above all.

Key Truth: Feelings fluctuate. Covenant doesn’t.
